Update, no pics yet
Well, I finally gave up trying to figure out what I was doing wrong on the heel and frogged back and did it over. The second time went much more smoothly, except I then dropped a stitch. I’m not sure if I want to back out and pick it up now or just tie it down and weave it up when I hit that part of the next round. *rolls eyes* I wonder if it would help if I liked the yarn I’m working with? It’s driving me nuts. I’ll find batteries for my camera and take pics of what I have so far, maybe someone else can see the problem.
At the rate this is going, I think I might stop at a crew sock and knit the second as quickly as possible. And probably return the second skein of yarn if I still have the receipt. If I can’t figure this out soon, I might put the whole thing down for a little while in favor of my sweater.
Hopefully everyone else is having a better go of it.
Cheers.

What yarn are you using that you ‘hate’ it that much?

It’s a superwash called Trekking. The major problem is that I hated it early and it’s gotten worse from there. My LYS was very unhelpful when I was looking for yarn so I got fed lots of bad information and was sold a striping yarn after I said I wanted a solid color. Beyond that it splits a lot and is generally just aggravating. I’m being petulant, I think. It blocks the lace nicely, I just hate the yarn for no good reason. It’s striped and peach. And two days after I started knitting with it I found the other yarn store and they’re much better.

Oh – I love the trekking yarns – if you are looking for a stripe. I dont usually have any issues with splits.
I ordered teh louet gems from the loopy ewe (www.theloopyewe.com) and had it in like 3 days. I am in love with it. I ordered it in black – because my inner goth said to.

I’m really liking Knit Picks’ Gloss. It’s a little fussy on all those wrap pick-ups, but I imagine just about any yarn would be. I’ve never used Trekking, so I don’t know how they’d compare.
If it helps, I found the heel on this thing to be a huge pain. Someone suggested to me last night not doing the double wraps. I think that would help immensely — I’m not thrilled with knitting in wraps, but downright loathe knitting in double wraps.
All that said, I love the lace pattern, so now that I’m over that heel, I’m happy.
Of course, I’m also a great proponent of switching projects for awhile to alleviate frustration or boredom, so I’m cheering you to do whatever your knitters’ soul needs.
